• Inertia's role: An object traveling in a straight line continues in that direction due to its inertia. When it is forced to move in a circle, it's this inertia that creates the outward "push" away from the center.
• Direction: Centrifugal force acts radially outward, away from the center of rotation.

How it happens

• Bubble formation: As a liquid moves through a high-velocity or low-pressure area, the pressure can drop below the liquid's vapor pressure.This causes the liquid to "boil" locally, forming vapor-filled bubbles (cavities).123
• Bubble collapse: When these bubbles move into a higher-pressure area, they are crushed and collapse violently.12

Where it occurs

• Pumps and propellers: In engineering, cavitation is often a problem in pumps, turbines, and propellers, leading to noise, vibration, and structural damage over time.
